HAPPY 34TH BIRTHDAY TO ME: AN OPEN LETTER TO MYSELF

So today is my 34th Birthday!

In honor of another 365 days around the sun, I thought I’d write myself a letter reflecting on the past year and giving myself well wishes for this new year. Because this year is about being intentional.

Hey Girl Heeeey!

Tia, I am soooo proud of the woman you are becoming. You spent most of your life affirming everyone but yourself, putting other people before yourself, not believing in yourself, and suffering in silence. You have overcome so much and you’ve grown in ways that you never thought you were capable of. You had to make some tough decisions this year, but you did it, and you did it on your own terms. Whatever the consequences are, you put your big girl panties on, and did what you thought to be best for yourself. You’ve been happier ever since! You go girrrl. YAAAAAAS!

Today is a day to celebrate the life you’ve claimed for yourself, and everything that has made you who you are today. Congratulations on finally seeing yourself as an actual human being that experiences highs and lows! Don’t forget that you’ve also learned some valuable lessons along the way. You’ve learned that you are no longer available to be held back, to be stuck, to be silenced, or to believe what other people believe is possible for you. This past year has been a blessing. You finally see yourself, affirm yourself, and believe in yourself FORREAL. You gave yourself permission to enjoy life unapologetically, to take a break, to embrace new opportunities, and to be human.

As you celebrate your birthday, I want you to know that you are loved and appreciated. You are an amazing person, and your presence in this world is necessary and appreciated. Remember to be kind to yourself and to forgive yourself for any mistakes you may have made. Forgive yourself and release the weight of the world and your past so that you can freely move in the direction that God wants you to move and hear his voice again. Continue to live a life full of love and compassion for other people, despite past experiences. Keep your faith in God and seek him when you lose your way.

You are capable of achieving anything you set your mind to, and I believe in you. I SEE YOU AND I’M ROOTING FOR YOU! Remember that you are not alone, and that there are people in your life who care about you and want to see you succeed. Your life is what you create it to be and it’s open for celebrating YOU for being fully YOU.
